you talk smack about your cat
and then it gets schooled by the neighbor's dog
and your driving it to the vet . . .
and you think, "What are these? Tears?!"
and then you realize
the inherited pet has found a place in your heart
and you feel horrible
for acting oblivious to it's very existence for the past 8 months

Oh... and I hope your cat is okay. Somehow, these pet's of ours find a way into our hearts. (Even when we don't want them to.)
You cried about the cat?!?! Hopefully it softens up to all of you as well.
