She was right. There wasn't even the slightest bit of recollection until she mentioned the bowling alley. Ah, yes. President's Day, bowling with the kids, our 5 year olds ball had miraculously made it's way into the lane next to us, rolling to a complete halt half way down their gutter. The woman speaking to me was the mother who had so generously laughed it off even though it had ruined her teenage sons last frame.

My days are full of this. Walking down the isle at the grocery store someone smiles at me all big and familiar like and it's not until three isles later that I make the connection. I sit next to someone in the Arctic Circle play area and 30 minutes in I realize it's the Primary President we trained a couple weeks earlier.
They're everywhere. People I know but don't recall. It's not that I don't want to remember. I pray like mad for this gift to be bestowed but still it eludes me. "This is what it's like to be an airhead" I said to myself yesterday.
And I felt really sorry for airheads everywhere.

Ah, but the best part is when I come home and you pretend you don't know who I am.
I am exactly the same way! I hate it. I always pray for this gift when I get a new calling. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't. I seriously considered asking teh Relief Society sisters in this ward to let me take their picture for a cheat book.
sigh.
P.S. Matt Messe is the best name rememberer I have ever met.
Don't worry, you have other talents. You can't be a talent hog you know!
Welcome to my world, next time I have that glassy look in my eye just know I am trying to remember your name, even if you are my neighbor! Jod you rock!
Remember what I was telling you on your birthday... that one of your greatest gifts is that you make each and every person that you meet, talk to, know and love... feel exactly the same way. You show such sincerity, interest and love in all that we say. It is because of this gift that EVERYONE remembers YOU...
What a Gift to have.
