He turned 13 and got a Life

"In this world where some misguided men and women strive to tear down and destroy great movements such as Scouting, I am pleased to stand firm for an organization that teaches duty to God and country, that embraces the Scout Law, an organization whose motto is `Be prepared,' and whose slogan is `Do a good turn daily.' "

President Thomas S. Monson

There are days I curse it,

like the day I started the scout shirt on fire while trying to remove a glued on patch,

or the days those half finished merit badges hang over me like a black cloud,

but those times are counteracted

when I welcome him home from a 50 mile bike ride

or watch him willingly give a summers day to community service.

He's growing, and learning.

He's getting a life.

In two weeks I'll have 3 boys in scouting.
Thank goodness for great scout leaders
and "Badge Magic"
(for those of us who didn't master sewing
in Blue Birds or Home Ec.)

Isabelle cut off her pigtails while I was sewing patches onto Luke's scout shirt...where was badge magic when I needed it?!

"sunrise.....sunset, sunrise....sunset"

I am blown away by watching him grow into a man.

I think I fight it too much.

Time to just let it happen, right?

Great update! And we hadn't seen his braces yet. Can't wait to see you all soon.
