(one of my favorite cemeteries in Massachusetts)
Allie and I went for a Sunday drive
and found ourselves at a quiet cemetery
She flitted from one gravestone to the next
asking me to read about each life
The late afternoon sun warmed our cheeks
as we listened to the birds in conversation
We could have spent an entire day there
just the two of us

Chad
passed away at 42, three years ago
Sunday was his birthday
his gravestone was adorned with balloons -
and a Big Gulp full of icy cola
Geraldine
her birthdate only a few days before
an old fashioned bouquet of flowers
and a box of dark chocolate covered cherries
left for her by her sweetheart,
Wallace

I love cemeteries. I think I probably owe that to my Grandma and your Mom. I have so many wonderful memories of meeting with family, bringing food, and sitting on the grass listening to stories of family members I hardly knew.
Now, I love to walk to our local cemetery and go for walks with Ellie. It's such a peaceful place.
