inconsequential observations

  • boys are messy.  i asked my son to take the cereal down to the food storage and this is what i get.  i'm reasonably sure he would be hard pressed to find a problem with this picture.

  • speaking of food storage, apparently i'm planning on cleaning up all end of the world messes with brawny.  i have 72 double rolls of paper towels.  that's 6,912 two ply sheets for wiping up all post earth quake debris.  pretty soon i'll have to start moving food out to make room for my growing paper towel collection.
  • speaking of paper towels, i buy mine at costco.
  • speaking of costco, i took a broken folding table back yesterday.  i told the man i thought i'd owned it about a year and a half.  turns out it's been 4.  (my how time flies)  the table was still under warranty and he issued me a full refund . . . which i promptly spent it on more paper towels.
  • and speaking of broken, we bought a new fridge when we remodeled our home three years ago.  we loved it so much that we had cabinets built around it.  the fridge has broken and we were just informed they don't make parts for it anymore.  i don't want to name names but if the amana service center were anywhere nearby we'd be toilet papering it for family night.  or maybe paper toweling it.

what do you overbuy?
you know when
you're walking around the store
and you think "we might be running out of this"
so you throw two or three in your cart
only to get home and realize you already had 8 in the pantry-

LOL, paper toweling a store sounds like even more fun that toilet papering it. I always buy canned soup at those huge caselot sales, only to get them home and realize that I already have a hundred or so on the shelf because we don't even like canned soup. Ah well, hopefully we have a disaster before they go bad so they get eaten. ;) Either that or the food bank is going to get a very generous donation from the Tessems in the future!

Sugar cereal is my problem. We never had it growing up so I feel the need to make up for lost time.

T. P.! Is it because it doesn't have an expiration date? Or because it lines up neatly on a shelf and looks like you're totally organized?
