love/hate

I love their sun kissed little bodies
I hate stocking, applying and reapplying sunscreen
I love swimming
I hate soggy towels & suits
I love the highlights of summer hair
I hate chlorine hair the consistency of straw
I love not having time to think
I hate not having time to think
I love the happy noises of children throughout the house
I hate that the happy noises go so late into the night.
I love being tired to the bone
I hate feeling fatigued
I love having a break from school
I hate that a portion of my children's brains are turning to mush
I love not being tied to a routine
I hate our complete lack of routine
I love that my children are involved in worthwhile things
I hate that their interests take them away from home
I love homemade ice cream, s'mores, root beer floats . . .
I hate eating junk
I love having something to look forward to
I hate that our calendar is full
I love not dealing with backpacks and papers
I hate that my house is never clean

I love childhood
I hate that it's fleeting . . .
