Monday in a nutshell

I put the second coat of paint on the fence today. In the scorching heat.  It made me sweat.  A lot.  I ran out of paint before the job was done so I had to make a Home Depot run mid project.  I changed my shirt so as not to be too offensive out in public but by the time I got to the store my sweaty bra had soaked thru leaving a perfect outline of my unmentionables.  *sigh*

After 5 hours of painting I picked Brayden up from his golf tournament.  Turns out he didn't do so hot today.  As he was throwing his clubs in the trunk he said "I HATE golf!  I can't wait to play it again tomorrow."  Golf is like that I guess.

On the drive home I got a call from the kiddos.  They said that Murphy had brought a dead snake into the house and that the house smelled like poo.  But not to worry.  They threw away the snake and Febreezed the house.  Upon our return we were indeed greeted by the lovely scent of dead snake mingled with Febreeze.  Mmmm.  Dead Reptile Breeze.

While I was cleaning up a days worth of dirty kitchen a blood curdling scream announced my youngest child's return from the neighbors house.  "I've been stung by a wasp!  I've been stung by a wasp!"  And she had.  Right on the face.  Really?  On the face?  C'mon!  I promised her an early morning rampage with insecticide and it seemed to placate her long enough for me to apply ice and Benadryl.

I could see this 100 degree, crappy golf, dead snake, stinky house, swollen face day was getting to all of us so we threw on our swim suits and headed out for an evening swim followed by frozen treats.

As I was tucking the children into bed
I decided that parenting is a lot like golf:
You may have failed at it today
but somehow you're excited
to give it another try tomorrow.

Goodnight Monday.
