Bacon, egg and contention biscuits:

Breakfast of Champions

It was our Monday morning meal with a hot side of weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.  But I ate it up.  Every last bite.  And this is why . . .

When we make the effort to gather as a family at 7:00 a.m. to study our scriptures together everything in life seems to go better.  It only takes a week of being out of the habit for the nit picky, hurt monkey, inconsiderate comments to start back up.  The feeling of our entire household shifts.  It's always a rocky start as we work to re-implement family scripture time.

Today we are re-implementing.

After a rough start we were on to a cheery, productive morning.

"Take time daily to read the scriptures together as a family. Individual scripture reading is important, but family scripture reading is vital. Reading the Book of Mormon together as a family will especially bring increased spirituality into your home and will give both parents and children the power to resist temptation and to have the Holy Ghost as their constant companion. I promise you that the Book of Mormon will change the lives of your family."
Ezra Taft Benson

"I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increasemutual respect and consideration for each other will growThe spirit of contention will departParents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdomChildren will be more responsive and submissive to the counsel of their parents.Righteousness will increaseFaith, hope, and charity—the pure love of Christ—will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness."
Marion G. Romney

No pain, no gain.
