If I had it to do again I wouldn't have asked for the things I did four years ago. We fasted and prayed that you would be cured, that your challenges and imperfections would be taken from you. We wanted you to be what specialists refer to as "typical." Today, my son, you are far from typical. We have cause to celebrate for the things that make you "atypical" are the very things that align you with Him.
You do not seek out the world's approval or acceptance. You see the black and white, the wrong and right of things having no patience for the grey. You are entranced by God's handiwork and move at a pace that is conducive to it. You are offended by the sights, sounds and fast pace of today's society. You are joyful in your adversity. You are spiritually minded. You are different. People are drawn to you, drawn to the spirit that they feel when they are near you. It is His spirit.
Next year you will want to be baptized. You will ask to be because He was and as always you will want to be like Him. We will support you in your desire knowing full well that you are already clean in His eyes. Your spirit is untouchable, the adversary has no power over you.
So you see why my desires have changed. I wouldn't ask that one miraculous aspect of you be changed or "cured" for that matter. It is me that needs to do the changing. I am the one that will continue to do all I can to align my will with His. He is my mediator, my advocate, my brother. He makes it possible for imperfect me to live with perfect you for eternity.
Happy Birthday beautiful boy.
It just seems so right to be celebrating today.

Beautiful. I have tears streaming down my face. Well said, well spoken from the heart, and something only a mother can say and feel. HE is a Beautiful Boy.
I haven't heard him described more accurately...or beautifully.
Are you trying to make me cry?! It takes time to accept the things you can't change but we're the lucky ones to have a perfect spirit residing in our homes. Some children are placed on earth to bring happiness & purity to the world. We have the honor of sharing it with others.
What a beautiful change that has happened. What a beautiful person you are with Nick in your life. A gift, after all.
Another beautiful and perfect tribute. And...accept for maybe one sentence, the description of Nick could just as easily have been of his mother. The apple didn't fall far from the tree, for HIS spirit is just as strong in you and people are drawn to you for that exact some reason. Happy Birthday, Nick.-Love, Gina
