Home is my Business

My husband drives to his job each morning.
I roll out of bed into mine.

I do the finances, housekeeping, party planning, scheduling, meal planning, entertaining, tutoring, employee incentives . . . you get the picture.

There are two things that are complicating my job today:

1. Coordinating with 7 junior high teachers, 2 elementary teachers, one pre-school teacher, a special ed. instructor, and a speech therapist to organize missed homework while we're away on vacation next week. A daunting feat.

2. I can't smell. I can't taste. My teeth ache. My face aches. I have a sinus infection. I called my doctor this morning. He's in Haiti until next Wednesday. I mentioned to the receptionist that our insurance changed at the beginning of the year. Upon hearing what insurance we now have she informed me that their facility is not a provider.

Goodbye family physician
Goodbye ear, nose and throat doctor
Goodbye dermatologist
Goodbye gynecologist

I did the only logical thing,
I climbed back into bed, pajamas and all,
and read a book
until my stomach and my 5 year old
grumbled for lunch 3 hours later.

A perk of running your own business.

Happy Monday,

I'm so glad to hear I am not the only mom who does the climb-back-in-bed-and-read-all-morning stunt! Love it!

Oh man, I'm just getting over my first sinus infection and I had no idea how much they suck!! I'm so sorry! Luckily, my job allowed me to snuggle with a cute little girl and nap whenever she did.

I love the stay at home, in bed, book reading job... I hope you get hazard pay along + the time and a half pay for insanity pay. There is NOTHING like having your own business!! Nothing...

I agree. I just wish we had sick leave and PTO to accompany those days.
