How sweet it is

Two teenagers, 4 tweens, 3 children, 2 adults, 1 overgrown hair ball.  We resembled an oversized can of sardines once everyone was finally stuffed into the Odyssey.  The day was beautiful with a warmth that drove onlookers at the park to the shade of neighboring trees. A spirited game of tag brought a healthy glisten to the children's faces as we soaked up all the sun our pores could possibly take then headed home to the ominous to-do list:

sweet pulled pork burrito/salad bar

witches costume
witches make-up
vampire costume
hair
fake scars
trick or treat bags

adirondack chairs
folding table
packages of 8 oz. cups
napkins
mini marshmallows
steaming hot cocoa
fire pit
extra wood
halloween music
light jack-o-lanterns

drive teenager to party
coordinate with trick or treat friends -
(spend the next 60 minutes begging half the kids to slow down and the other half to hurry up!)

sort and count candy
watch movie
drive friends home
hot tubby/showers
hard core brushing of teeth
prayers
kisses

It took 4 adults to run our household that evening (thanks grammy and grandpa).  I never got to enjoy the fire pit, the hot cocoa or the neighbors but I couldn't have loved the night more.  I got to spend the evening with a witch a vampire and a plethora of equally exciting elementary aged characters.  They needed me and even more importantly . . . they wanted me.

Eating up this time in life,

Can't stop myself from sneaking Snickers Bars
out of the kids trick-or-treat bags

What's your weakness?
