Our neighborhood
(consisting of 100 houses covering a 3 block radius)
has a
walk-about
every couple of months
three different families host each time
offering treats and and their yard for neighbors to congregate and visit
friends and neighbors mill about the neighborhood
moving from house to house
it's a blast

Our family is hosting this Sunday
and I have no idea what to serve.
This is where you come in.
Something creative, fun and easy.
Preferably something that won't break the bank.
(remember, we'll be serving
an undetermined number of men, women and children)
Any ideas?
treats served in the past: smores around a portable fire pit,
homemade salsa and chips, root beer floats, assorted cookies, watermelon

we hosted the very first walk-about last september... the one that was pretty much rained out and the walkers still came and it turned out to be inside our home instead of in the yard (can you say stressful!) I was sooo not prepared for that!
Something easy is Pace Popcycles for the young kids and maybe a cookie sheet of lemon bread cake with cream cheese frosting... (I say that because it sounds good to me right now!) If you need Ideas come over I have three VERY good cook book that my friend has published.
Pace popsicles.
Cake balls, cupcakes, cake mix cookies (preferably with Rolos in them). All cheap and easy! Or just in-season fruit. Always good.
What a fun tradition! I would love to start that in our neighborhood.
Frozen bananas dipped in chocolate! Creamies...we can't get them here.
Oooh Costco has there Strawberries on sale now for CHEAP and they are SOO yum!
Cheese!!!!
Veggies and dip, although community dip can be a bit frightening.
Some other kind of heated dip that goes with tortilla chips, or corn salsa with tortilla chips.
Popcorn, caramel or otherwise, and pop. (I know someone with a popcorn machine)
Mini cupcakes-I could help you make a batch.
Ice cream cones.
Mini ice cream sandwiches.
Good luck. I'll use whatever idea you don't when it is our turn.
At least you have adorable chairs for them to sit in!!
I suggest hot chocolate since we have returned to winter.
Have fun!
I know I'm late in responding but my suggestion is lots and lots of popcorn! So much popcorn that you have to serve it in something really big, like a garbarge bin. Very inexpensive. Very fun. Could be very cool.
