Brandon made it to his grandmother's side shortly after she left this world. His grandfather was sitting by the side of her bed gently cupping her small hand inside his own large, work worn hands. "We did everything we wanted to do" he smiled thru tears. "If there was somewhere we wanted to go we went."
It was soon after that Brandon informed me we'd be going to the Oregon Coast, a place I've always dreamed of, in October.
My dreams hadn't done it justice:
memorable moments-
a great flight. losing a drivers license before we were even out of the Portland airport (making the car rental, hotel stays and flying back home a bit of a trick). Three fabulous hotels in three wonderfully different cities. Lush bath bombs. Fern blanketing everything that wasn't covered in sand. A morning run on the beach. Skillet roasted Chinook Salmon basted with fennel lime butter, served on blue cheese potato gratin. Tillamook cheese factory. Sand dunes. Wooded hikes. Coffee house (acoustic) station on XM radio. Sunsets on the beach. Smoked Salmon pizza with pine nuts, basil, capers, red peppers and parmesan cheese. Breathtaking bridges. Picking wild blackberries on the side of the road. Sand between our toes. Sea shells. Delayed flight home. Cheap hotel. Four a.m. wake up call. Making it thru security without a drivers license. Reconnecting with my sweetheart.
It was heaven to me.

And that mountain road looks more narrow than the road to the sun!

I'm not going to mention that the Portland Airport is 15 minutes from our front door. And I'm not going to hold it against you. At least I'm going to try not to.
