Our son, Nick, lost a tooth last night. He put it in the special "tooth fairy" tooth holder and tucked it safely under his pillow. When he awoke early this morning his tooth was still there. I assured him that you must have been extra busy with your other tooth fairy duties. Or maybe you forgot which room was his. Or maybe you stopped by and his big brother was reading late into the night, and then maybe you thought you would do it at the break of dawn before flying out the door to your second job.
Whatever the reason, Nick is fine with it. His tooth will be patiently waiting under his pillow for you tonight. Just leave the usual amount, plus interest please.
Sincerely,

I have totally done that too! Although, I don't think Kaiya was so patient with the Tooth Fairy... she prayed for $5 to help her feelings get better!
When I was a kid I don't think the tooth fairy ever showed up the first night. Sometimes not the second night. Or the third. With every passing fairy-less night I reported at breakfast, my mother seemed to laugh a little harder. My kids seem to have the same fairy. I think it adds to the suspense. I think next year we may not even have Christmas on the 25th. We'll just see when Mr. Claus shows up.
Dear Jod, many times we thought our tooth fairy would forget to come... I would always look under the pillow one more time just to be sure and we would always find a dollar that accidentally dropped on the floor or behind the bed...
love, Joy
Our tooth fairy forgot to take Abby's tooth once too. I assured Abby that she'll be back. It's just a very busy time of year for the tooth fairy and especially with the economic crisis we've had, she's struggling too.
It's a good thing these 'beings' are so flexible! Does that note go with the one you write to the Easter Bunny: "Could you please leave our candy on Saturday, so we won't be too hyper at church?"
