I'm lazy

and I'm sad about it.

I spent an entire day reading a book this week.
An ENTIRE day.
Yesterday I did pretty much nothing.
I'm not kidding.

I feel sorry for Brandon.
I worry that someday he'll discover what productive wives do
and he'll realize he got ripped off.

I watch women who are driven by a motor
who are actively involved in the PTA,
who scrub their grout with a toothbrush
and have every street in their state memorized due to all the shuttling.

It wears me out

but I hate myself a little bit for not being them.

You and me both! I wonder if others feel this way. ??

I too spend entire days reading. At least we are well rounded from all that reading right?

I think it's healthy to take a day off. Everyone else does, why can't moms? Hope the book was great.

I'd say after 4 kids over a decade-and-a-half, you're definitely entitled to a day off to do nothing but read a book. Or several days off. To read a book. Or, you know, come hang out with us in Boston with Bo (we can't wait to see you soon!).

I'm a lazy mom too. And by lazy, I mean not-motivated. But I'm finding that motivation has very little to do with being productive. I do all sorts of things that I don't want to do, lol!

P.S. Were you reading Mockingjay?

I long for days when I'm not actively involved in PTA or shuttling kids all over the state and can read a book other than "The Meanest Doll of All" in 30 minute increments. It's not all it's cracked up to be, although I do love the time I get to spend talking with my children while shuttling them all over the state. Oh, the things I learn.

P.S. I will never clean my grout with a toothbrush again (and it shows)!

Don't hate yourself even a little bit, but if you need a little tough love I like this quote from Judy Garland, "Always be a first rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of somebody else." However, don't forget that "Jodi... or Any mother could perform the job of several air traffic controllers with ease." –Lisa Alther

But your kids love you for not being them. I've seen the way they look at you and adore you. And Brandon is one lucky guy...I've seldom met a woman that is so unconditionally sweet and genuine and full of passion. You are amazing to say the least. And it's easy to see when you are together that he is far from disappointed. You are a fabulous mother, and a hot wife with a clean house, not to mention a spectacular yard. Don't be sad. Go read 'Half Broke Horses' by Jeanette Wall. She wrote 'the Glass Castle', which was also fabulous. Don't be sad. Just enjoy, because you never know when It will be over :)
